Codabar
Variable length barcode type that is able to encode numbers 0 to 9, and six symbols - $ : / . + (and four stop - start invisible characters). Whilst Codabar is one of most dense of the self-checking barcode types, the density is actually considerably lower when compaired with Interleaved Code 2-of-5. Messages Stored can be any size.
Applications include blood banks, air parcel couriers (FedEx airbills), photolabs and libraries. Note Codabar is not as versatile or reliable as some other 1-D barcode types. Codabar really is not generally recommended for use with newer applications.
